In 1999 the students of the North Schuylkill School District decided to send their DARE Lion (Daren) around the Country to see what other schools do for drug education.
It took a while, but Daren made it to all fifty states, the District of Columbia, New Zealand, Canada, Hungary, France, Holland, Germany, and Belgium. In the fall of 2009 Daren left for Saudi Arabia, and he was presumed lost until he surfaced again in 2011.

Since we had so much fun with this project for so long, we decided to start another lion traveling in 2010. Daren 2 has been to Kansas, North Dakota, Minnesota, and Maine. Currently Daren 2 is traveling, and he plans to stop in Virginia, New Hampshire, Nevada, Oregon Wisconsin, and Florida. Daren 1 is being retired, although he will make limited local appearances.
